Print Post

The last newsletter was our first as a Print Post approved publication, and as we mentioned then getting approval was simple.

We phoned Australia Post Sales (326 5234) for information, and were sent both an application form and information booklet. After completing the form we sent it back with sample copies of previous issues.

Approval took about a week. We received a copy of the form showing our PPOST number.

We needed to make minor changes to the newsletter, to include the Print Post details on the cover and, because we didn't want to continue using envelopes, we also changed the back cover to incorporate the Post Paid square, Print Post details, publication name and space for address labels.

Our first attempts at folding and stapling the publication for posting turned out pretty awkward - because our small staplers couldn't handle the 8 pages folded in 3. We hurriedly borrowed a heavy duty stapler from a local printer - but it's staples were incredibly touch to removed - apologies to everyone who got one of those.

The rest of you were rescued from broken finger nails only because Colin (Kingdom Artroom) dropped by for coffee. He watched the efforts for a few minutes, and then casually asked why we weren't just using sticky tape. 'Cos some folks are smarter than others, that's why not!

Lodging the mail out at Post Office proved to be just as simple. We completed yet another form, provided samples of the publication, paid the bill and that was it

The only difficulty was that the mail had to be lodged at a proper post office, not an agency. Our local post office (Malaga) turned out to be an agency, so we had to drive a little further than usual.

Mind you, cutting the post cost from 45 cents to 33 cents made the drive well worth it.
