Locating Truetype fonts

Introducing Font Copy

The most commonly asked question is "where are the fonts in Windows 3?". True Type font files are not easy to access because the powers that be have given them cryptic little font names like TT0934M_.TTF, rather then something useful like NewBaskerville Bold. To make things worse, they're normally in a directory that also has dozens of other things in there too, also with cryptic names, which makes it almost impossible to find the file you need.

Well we couldn't resist a challenge like that, so we've been working on it, and the result is a program called Font Copy. It's very simple - all it does is let you go through your directories, and instead of seeing filenames, you see the names of True Type fonts. The program then lets you select the fonts that you want, and copy them into whatever directory you choose.

Great for copying a font onto the floppy disk with your job!

In the a proper spirit of altruism (read realism!) we're distributing it as freeware (it would only get pirated anyway). If this sounds like just the sort of thing you were looking for, you can get a copy of Font Copy via FTP, the Desktop BBS, or by dropping by the office for a copy of our Utility disk (which is also crammed with other useful things like PKZIP, a virus scanner, and imagesetter drivers).
